Ah, this is it. I Saw Her Across the World is the final game in the I Saw Her trilogy, and is honestly a great way to end it off. This game is where you play as both the girl and guy zombie, working either to get each other or with each other. You travel across the world and eventually reach an end to this crazy adventure.
The mechanic are simple platforming through and through, with a few puzzle elements sprinkled in here and there. The platforming itself feels like the first game, with a high jump, a quick speed, just tight enough to allow you to traverse through this mostly skill-based game without it feeling like it's the game who screwed you over when it was you who messed up. The puzzles are the simple button pressing mechanic that is only implicated once you can control with the girl and guy characters. That itself is an interesting mechanic. You press [ F ] to switch between them, and in order to move to the next screen you have to get both of them to the end.f
The levels are in decent variety. You have a forest, a city, a mountain, and even the laser lab from the second game. Each introduces different mechanics and enemies to deal with, keeping it just fresh enough. In between levels is a sort of top-down overworld type of thing where you can explore the different areas. There are even extra areas just for you to screw around in, or maybe just relax in. Trust me, there are plenty of secrets to go around.
The narrative is pretty much the same, but does have some notable differences from the other games. For starters, the narrative is told from the perspective of whichever character you're playing as, so this is the first game we get dialogue from the girl! Secondly, the narrative begins to reflect on the journeys of the past two game near the end of this one, leading to some emotional moments, especially for those who have played the whole series up until this point. Third, the dialogue changes after you beat the game a first time, which is different. In the end, the narrative still retains that same charm it always had. Thoroughly enjoyable.
The aesthetics are a constant evolution for this series, and this is easily a step forward in that department. The visuals are still made up of very basic yet attractive shapes, simply being very pleasing to the eye. There is shading just basic enough to retain the style the series has always had, making it look a bit more polished and somewhat professional. There are nice colors in each world and the backgrounds are very pleasant without taking away from the foreground.
The music just so pleasant. It's mostly piano, but even without a soundtrack of primarily acoustic it still fits quite well. Almost every world gets it own theme that just fits it like a glove. The atmosphere they produce range from lighthearted to adventurous to fast-paced to just epic. It does it's best to feel like an advancement from the other games, and it's best is enough.
And here ends the I Saw Her trilogy. They are adorable games in their rights, and have most certainly earned the soft-spot in my heart that I have awarded them. I'm kinda sad that this is where the adventure stops, but all good things must come to an end.
