I Saw Her Standing There Too, With Lasers - The Puzzler of the Trilogy

Developer: Krang Games

Publisher: Armor Games

Format: PC (Browser/Flash)

I Saw Her Too, With Lasers is the second game in the I Saw Her trilogy and is completely different than the other two game in the fact that it is not a platformer. The first game had vague puzzle elements that showed up when you were luring your girlfriend into the cages, but in this game all there is are puzzles. It's a game all about pushing buttons and changing lasers so that the two zombies from the first game can meet each other.

The mechanics are pretty basic, but in conjunction to one another very complex and mind-racking. You deal with multiple types of lasers, buttons, switches, and even more zombies. Each level not only requires a lot of thought but also a great deal of reflex, as you have to time some things almost perfectly. It's an engaging puzzle game, utilizing mechanics that you grow accustomed to very fast. It introduces new things just often enough to keep you actively thinking about how things would work.

The narrative is still done in the same two statements per level way as it was in the first game, with one at the beginning and end of the level. This time you play as the scientist who is in control of the whole lab, and because of that the narrative is written from his point of view. He goes through many thoughts on life and stuff throughout the game. Once you get to the end of the game you're able to choose one of three endings: 1) Administer the cure, 2) Kill them for good, and 3) Release them to freedom. Each ending has it's own charm, and is clever in it's own ways.

Like the last game, this one has three acts. Each one has a different level of difficulty, a different background, and seven levels. Considering there are more levels and this is a puzzle game, you can predict that this game might take a tad bit longer to complete than the last. There are whole new cheats as well as some old ones that you can unlock by beating the game with whichever ending you chose.

The music and art are still spot on. The lasers, buttons, wires, and switches all look solid and pop out without looking like something they aren't. The simple background actually works quite well with the crazy layout of some levels, with some buttons being connected to multiple things and things of that nature. The music is the same style of acoustic as the last game but this time there are different songs for each act.

I was surprised by this game. It actually pulled off the puzzle genre quite well, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's got some fresh charm that it brings to the table and it's a charm I let get to me. It's only the second game in this series of three, and I can't wait to review this next one, which is my personal favorite.
