Exit Path is one of my most favored games of all time, being a great game play accompanied by a subtle but great narrative. Exit Path 2 is the sequel to this game, and not a bad one. It's still the same world as the first, still revolving around the guy you play as in the first game. It's still the same run through tons of obstacles to get to the checkpoints within each stage, but with more to it.
The gameplay is close to the same, keeping everything, including the Flow. You now have a double jump, with is an interesting thing in this game. It's one of those things that works awkwardly, and just just adjust to it. You see, whenever you double jump, it has a set momentum, and negates all the momentum before it. So if you were to jump on a bouncy pad, and half way through the bounce double jump, you would loose all the momentum from the bouncy pad and only have the momentum from the double jump. Awkward, but works once you get used to it.
The narrative is still really great, with that same subtle way of providing insight on the world around you. You learn more about the cruel government, the people outside the city, and the contrasting culture of them both. Almost no dialogue, although some. Most is done through notice or warning signs, giving insight on the world Exit Path provides.
Everything seemed to have gotten a huge texture overhaul, as everything is at least a bit more detailed than in the first game. I'll admit, it's very nice to look at. The only main problem with all the pretty textures and sprites is the horrible lag the game cam get whenever a stage has too much in it. The lag can get a little out of hand, and by that I mean unplayably bad.
So yeah, great game. Honestly, I hated the game at first, but after a while of not playing it I came back to it, and began to appreciate it. Beside the unplayable parts and the awkward double jump, theres a great game to be had. It's just another one of those games I'm gonna have to put down as a good sequel.
