You know, I should've seen this coming. That crazy blue elephant is at it again. Remember Achievement Unlocked 1, 2, 3 or maybe This Is The Only Level? Well that same elephant has his own RPG, aptly named Elephant Quest. Now, what would the story of this outrageous game be? Well the main character says that it looks nice out, so he wears his dandiest bowler cap. Little did he know that Bully Wooly likes your hat more than his, and steals it like the prick he is. So what do you do? You get it back. This is surprisingly, a very well done game. Theres tons in it, the leveling up system is well done, combat in pretty unique along with it's art-style and gameplay.

You move around with the WASD or arrow keys while shooting with the mouse. What you you shoot with, you ask? Well you have this little cannon on your back that shoots out a FRICKEN LAZER! Seriously, this thing is rapid fire bottomless clip action. Oh, and it only get crazier. When completing certain quests, you might just get a little cannon following you that shoots when and where you do. Theres even a skill to level up to get little flying elephant minions that shoot automatically, through walls, but only up until a certain range.

The enemies are neat. You've got crawling ones, bouncing ones, falling ones, and THE GODFORSAKEN FLYING ONES. Most are quite literal, but the flying ones? They fly through walls, and while they're in walls, only for minions can shoot them, and they don't do nearly as much damage as you do. These flying pricks fly through everything to get to you, and are the most frustrating enemies to deal with.

One thing, where do I go? Theres a decently big map, with many different areas. You've got your grasslands, your ruins, your clouds, your forestry, you name it. Thing is, there lacks a sense of conveyance(conveyance is how well a game gives its player a sense of direction). Its kind of hard to understand where to go, most people who give you quests don't even tell you where to go to get their quest item, so you just explore(which is fun, don't get me wrong) until you come across it. It really just leaves you in the dark on that.

For a game what you shouldn't take too seriously, its got a grand 'ol leveling up system. Holy bejezus, where do I start? Well I'll try gosh darn it. Well when you level up you get credits, credits are used to expand on a HUGE skill tree, which are used to unlock skill points for these areas: Dexterity, Intelligence, Agility, Charisma, and health. Health is a direct bonus, so doesn't apply to the following. So whatever skill points you unlock for these categories you'll now use only for that categories' abilities. Theres a total of 3 abilities per category, so 12 over all. Once you reach 25 on a ability it goes to a new level, and levels up for every 25 onwards. Confusing? Yes. In depth? Yes.

For a FREE flash game, this is really fun a well done. Its got tons too it, its fun to play, its endless looping soundtrack works well with all the areas, its all good! Elephant Quest, along with select others, are why I don't doubt the gems that can be forged from the flash game library.

Out of all the RPGs I've played, this isn't even the one with the weirdest protagonist. That'd be Fafu the Ostrich.

Aww Yeah!

I do lots of writing, but also dabble in videos.

I write about whatever I want, but it's mostly games.

Also, excellent taste in VGM.
