CASTAWAAAAAAAAY~! I have to admit, Castaway is my favorite flash game franchise. Likwid, although I always forget how to spell you, you make excellent games. I've already talked about Castaway 1 & Castaway 2: Isle of the Titans, but nows the time for something of a spinoff Castaway, but a good one at that. Castaway Island Tower Defense is all about protecting the Crystals around the Island by replacing trees with turret-towers. At first, I thought this was just a Castaway re-skin of some tower defense game, but oh boy was I wrong. Likwid, why are you just so great at making the Castaway franchise unique with every installment? The world may never know. This game is different from all the other tower defenses I've played, and thats a good thing.

The gameplay is great, allowing you to run around your area you have to protect, building towers and killing monsters. Like most tower defense games, theres ground turrets, air turrets, and some turrets for both. Theres also traps, like Ice, Poison, and Fire, that use a certain amount of mana. The enemies are like the ones from the previous games, all with Castaway 2's art-style, which I've grown accustom to over time. You've got your baddies, like the blue beetles, bigger blue beetles, eye guys, bigger eye guys, and snakes. I've only been in the first area, so I'm sure theres more to come. As you could've guessed, the eye guys are the only flying enemies so far, but no worries, for theres a pet for that!

No, not like the Wonder Pets. In the beginning of the first stage, you are introduced to many things the game has to offer, including pets. There are three pets to choose from, but once you choose one, thats the one you keep for the rest of the game. You have a choice of three pets, each with their own bonuses. You've got the Loomi, a fox-like creature. This little critter will pick up gold and gems for you. Secondly, you've got the Skull Pixie, and I'm sure you can guess what that looks like. This fella gives you a manna bonus, allowing you to place more traps. Last, but most definitely not least, is the Plate Lizard. This intimidating creature make foes weak with fear, forcing flying enemies to fly low, counting them as ground enemies. Of course you and your pet have to be close enough to the enemies to do this, creating risk of getting hurt and loosing precious gold.

Now to gems, something I stated in the previous paragraph. Gems are to be placed on towers to give that tower an elemental buff. There are four gems: Ruby, sapphire, emerald, and topaz. Ruby is fire, sapphire is ice, emerald is poison, and topaz is lighting. These gems are randomly dropped by dead enemies, and are really useful. What I usually do is assign certain gems to certain towers. The mist tower is lighting, the spear tower is ice or poison, and the boulder is fire(like a volcano). As the towers kill enemies, they gain experience, and once they level up, they can hold more gems, then those gems help gain more experience, thus leveling up again!

Castaway Island Tower Defense is a great addition to the Castaway franchise, and I'm proud to say that I do very much enjoy it. Its a unique game to not only the franchise, but to the tower defense library as well. Also, Plate Lizard for the win!
