Strike Force Heroes is one of those 2D shooter arena games, and not a bad one. It's got a campaign, multiplayer, and even a challenges mode. It's even got an entire load-out and weapon selection bit, with customizable classes as well. Not much of the "getting weapons on the battlefield" thing though. It's story isn't too bad, just not worth getting into.
What is worth getting into is the basics of the game, like mechanics and all that jazz. It's a 2D shooter, so naturally there's gonna be some platforming involved. The shooting and platforming together is really fun, and crouching is actually very useful. The vast majority of weapons have to be unlocked with levels, and then bought with money. This dual-step style of unlocking weapons and perks is annoying. Also forces you to get better weapons, because the enemies will slaughter you if you don't, making your gameplay experience a bad one
It's got lots of variety of weapons though, with shotguns, snipers, assault rifles, or LMGs depending on your class, and then pistols regardless of your class. There are 4 classes, each with their ups and downs (which mostly comes with the available weapons). Theres the Medic, the Assassin, the Commando, and the Tank. These have different weapons as well as customization looks.
The art style is nice, and hand-drawn. It's color pallet is a good one, making good use of brights and darks when it fits well. The character and weapon models are fun to look at, which is good considering you're gonna see them a lot. All of this is good, and easy on the eyes, which is great durring all the constant crazed shoot-outs.
The campaign is composed of about 15 missions, with a decently steep difficulty curve. This forces you to replay some missions for experience and money, adding on to the campaign's playing time. The extra challenges are pretty hard so it might be a while before you even want to try those. Now the multiplayer adds infinite gameplay, so that certainly adds a lot to the game's playing time.
So yeah, one of the better 2D shooters games I've played in a while. It's one of those fun, action-packed, and crazy arena shooters. Great for anyone who is a fan of the genre. Have a fun time playing the game, ok?
