Add-on is one of those pencil and paper games with infinite possibilities, and infinite freedom. It's a game for you and your friends to have fun with for as long as your pencils and papers last. There's multiple ways to play, being pretty much as many as you can come up with. There were a select few ways that I used to play, which is what I'm going to go into.
#1: Armies
The first way was where you and a friend drew their army, and then took turns using that army to destroy the opposing army. You could draw all sorts of armies, be it in space, sea, land, you name it! The main goal was to take out the enemy's strongest things out of play as fast as you can. This involved a lot of strategy, as you knew what you opponent's had had, just not what it's army did. You had to take chances on what to do depending on your opponent's army and your own. It ended up getting really complex, truly involving all that strategy.
#2: Characters on a Stage
The second one is a bit more unpredictable, but not the most outrageous one. You simply drew out a stage, each person then drew their character somewhere on the stage, and then you all just take turns attacking each other or interacting with the stage you drew. Your characters can do really anything, as long as they couldn't take up more than one turn. They could pull out any weapon, use any ability, do really anything. It got to insane levels, and became a bit harder to read your opponent's moves.
#3: Insanity Round
This way of playing involves the most freedom, and the most outrageous things. There is no stage, no set character, no army. You can draw anything in your turn. Any character, any item, any of anything. Everything can be manipulated. You could literally do anything in the game to defeat your enemies, and so could they, making this the most crazy of the ways I used to play. The only limit that you could use(but didn't have to) is that your drawings had to touch each other in some way. Other than that? Complete chaos.
So yeah. Grab a pencil, some paper, and a friend for this game, because that's all it requires. You can draw anything you really want to, allowing for ultimate freedom of what to do. There are no real limitations, although you can create some for yourself. This was just a really fun way of passing the free time in school, which led to some crazy fun!
